Project details

What we need
  • Audit of existing Employee Handbook, or internal communications regarding employment policies
  • Edit or creation of a new Employee Handbook, which may include any of the following: Standards of Conduct, Work Schedules, Leave Policies, Termination Policies, Safety and Security, Anti-Discrimination policies, Compensation and Benefits policies, any Non-Disclosure Agreements or Conflict of Interest statements that may apply, and any other pertinent information
Additional details

Arts on the Block (AOB) has been in a continuous growth pattern (both personnel and programs) for the last 3+ years. Our Personnel Handbook has been under revision since 2015 and doesn't fully reflect the evolving philosophy and voices of AOB leadership. We would also like to modulate our handbook for our full time employees, and part time young adults and teen apprentices. We'd appreciate assistance in helping us revise our existing handbook.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a Personnel Handbook, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have job descriptions and performance assessment tools, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,430 , allowing us to divert those resources towards employing youth and young adults, as well as supplying them with tools and supplies they need to better accomplish our public art projects.

AOB is committed towards sound workforce development practices. Having a flexible, clear and effective Personnel Handbook is critical towards the success of our practices and responsible modeling to our young employees.

Our mission

Arts on the Block (AOB) empowers creative youth to imagine and shape fulfilling futures, join the creative workforce, and contribute to the quality of life in their communities. We achieve our mission by providing real-world experiences, entrepreneurial training, and new pathways to learning and achievement in a working art studio designed for social inclusion.

What we do

AOB apprentices join one of our existing studio crews led by master teaching artists and supported by a team of management professionals. AOB crew members work their way up through summer intensives and year-round projects to produce large-scale public art. Along the way, they receive customized professional skills training, connect with our creative network, and pursue individualized plans for success in creative careers.
